Dominic Daniel Schell, 98, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019 in the Weirton Medical Center. A son of the late Albert and Mary Ann Pape Schell, he was born May 29, 1921 in Midland, Pa, His wife Susan Simbanin Schell, daughter Terry Wright and sisters Anna Marie Cox and Elizabeth Sullivan also preceded him in death. Dominic retired as owner and operator of Schell’s Physical Therapy Clinic in Weirton, WV. Over the years his employment included Galinger General Hospital in Washington, DC, VA Hospital in Richmond VA, St Joseph Riverside Hospital in Warren, OH, Gill Hospital in Steubenville, OH, Weirton General Hospital, and the Weirton Medical Center. He was a member of St Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Weirton, Medical College of Virginia Alumni Association, VFW, Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity, 4th degree Knights of Columbus, Weirton, WV Physical Therapy Association and order of Son of Italy in America. Dom served his country during WWII in the US Army, where he received two purple hearts. Dom will always be remembered for his love of entertaining, whether by jokes, singing, or playing a variety of instruments, especially the violin. Dom is survived by his daughters Nancy (Gaston) Blanc, Kathleen (Chet) Soplinski, and Patty (Bruce) Powelson all of Weirton; and son Rick (Nikki) Schell of Weirton; 17 grandchildren,18 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Richard Francis (Pam) Schell of Toledo, OH. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Sunday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home. 3219 Main St, Weirton, WV. A Rosary will be recited Sunday at 7:30 PM by the members of the Knights of Columbus 3734. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Monday, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Reverend Father Anthony G. Thurston will officiate. Interment will be held 2:30 PM Wednesday, at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA with full Military Honors.   10. Thanks to Domnic Schell I had a successful back surgery 30 years ago. The most memorable was the therapy before when he would sing in Italian and tell his stores and jokes. He as been in my prayers all these years for helping me heal physically and mentally. He is with our Savor and I pray for all that the memories created wll help get you through these final days and all the days to come.
