Dominic Notarantonio

Dominic Notarantonio, 87 of Weirton passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the Weirton Medical Center. Born November 4, 1931 in Corbellino, Italy, he was the son of the late Anthony and Asunta Lozzi Notarantonio. He was also preceded in death by a sister Nella Fiocca and her husband Alex. At the age of 15, Dominic came to the United States from Italy. He learned the English language and graduated from Steubenville Catholic Central High School. His first job while attending high school was at DeCaria’s Italian Market on Main Street in Weirton, was a veteran of the Korean war in the U.S. Army where he proudly served the country he loved and then went on to work at Weirton Steel where he retired after 32 years. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton Steel 25 year club, and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed wine making, playing cards, golfing and playing on his champion bocce team “The Italians.” He was also handyman to many family members and friends whenever called upon for help. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Rachel Fiocca Notarantonio; sons Dominic Notarantonio of Weirton, Anthony (Donna) Notarantonio of Manassas, VA and Joe Notarantonio of Weirton; daughter Angela Howells of Weirton; grandchildren Sarah and Elizabeth Howells, Amanda (Matt) Ntiros, Allison and Anthony Notarantonio and sister Connie (Pete) Bernardi of Weirton. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM by the Knights of Columbus 3734. Additional visitation will be held Wednesday from 9:00 AM until a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church. Reverend Father Dennis Schuelkens Jr., will officiate. Entombment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.
