Donald “Bucky” Walter, 85,of Weirton passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020. He was born in Toronto, OH. Son of the late Frieda (George) Stewart Snyder. He was preceded in death by his infant brother David and sister Gladys Anderson. Bucky grew up in Steubenville and served his country in the United States Navy. He married Linda Gardner in 1958, recently celebrating sixty-two years of marriage. They were blessed with six children. Bucky retired from Weirton and National Steel where he worked as a machinist. After his retirement, he worked at the Hancock County Sheltered Workshop. He was a member of the Weirton Moose 688, The Weirton VFW Post 2716, and the Weirton American Legion Post 10. He is survived by wife Linda, children Nancy(Randy) Meeker, Mark (Kimber) Walter, Michael (Sara) Walter, David (Jennifer) Walter, Susan Misenhelder and Karen Walter, grandchildren, Matthew Walter, Jason Walter, Chantrel Gutierrez, Destiney Gutierrez, Randy Meeker, Beth Meeker, Taylor Walter, Nathan Walter, Sarah (Tyler) Alkire, Alyssa (Sean) Henry, Lydia Misenhelder, Krysta (Cody) Cavanaugh. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Thursday, July 9 at the Greco – Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday,July 10, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 229 California Ave, Weirton WV. The Rev. Father Anthony G. Thurston will preside . Visitors are encouraged to wear masks during calling hours to adhere to Covid-19 social distancing precautions.
