Donna Darlene Dotson

Donna Darlene Dotson of Weirton formally of Wintersville, OH died unexpectedly on November 17, 2020, at her home. She was 61 years old. Born on December 9, 1958, in Weirton, WV, Donna was born to Randall and Joyce Miller Cole Smith. Donna’s family moved to Paris, PA, when she was in junior high and she graduated from Burgettstown High School. In 1978, she married William “Jeff” Dotson and they were blessed with two children. Jeff passed away on September 18, 1988, and Donna raised her two young children. A caregiver for the sick and elderly, Donna worked tirelessly day in and day out to provide for her family. She made sure her kids were always taken care of. She battled breast cancer and won. She never complained or missed work even though she had to endure chemotherapy and radiation treatments. A tough cookie with a big heart, Donna would help anyone in need. Like her mother, she would give her last dollar. For fun, Donna enjoyed playing card games and games on her smartphone. She also enjoyed listening to Travis Tritt. In addition to her parents and her husband, Jeff, Donna was preceded in death by her stepmother Kimberly Kay (Kimble) Smith. Donna will be remembered with love and admiration by her son, Jeff Dotson; her daughter, Nicole (Richard) Long; her brothers, Randall “Junior” Smith, Jr., Raymond (Jessica) Smith, and Ricky (Becky) Smith; sister, Diana(Brian) Lester; six grandchildren, Alexis (Shane) Moore, Taylor, Mackenzie, Payton, Richie, and Jhysic Long; and her great-grandson Zae’Vion Washington. Visitation will be Friday 1-4 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street where services will be conducted at 4 PM. Rev. Carol McKay will preside. Interment will be at Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Weirton, WV. Memorial contributions may be made to Donna’s family to help with funeral-related expenses.
