Dorothy L. Shedlock, 80, of Brilliant, OH, formerly of Weirton, WV, passed away Saturday, May 08, 2010 at the Trinity Health System Medical Center West, Steubenville, OH. Born August 3, 1929 in St. Mary's, WV, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Nellie (Stewart) Fields. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her husband, John Shedlock; daughter, Deanna Shedlock; brother, William R. Fields; sisters, June Lee Fields and Alice Swinzinski; daughter-in-law, Margaret Pittman; and sons-in-law, Bernard DiGregorio and Dave Personette.
Dorothy was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Ronald Pittman of Auburn, IN. and John Shedlock of Moreno Valley, CA.; daughters, Mrs. Richard (Linda) Warrick of Brilliant, OH., Sandy Personette of Wellsville, OH., Marilyn Shedlock Robinson of Wheeling, WV., Mrs. Robert (Diana Lynn) Kelly of Coraopolis, PA., Joan DiGregorio of Pittsburgh, PA., and Rose Shedlock Mader of Weirton, WV.; sister, Twila Martin of Steubenville, OH.; brothers, Perry Fields of Denver, CO., Wayne Fields of Higgins Lake, MI., Roy Fields and Arthur Fields of Pueblo, CO., and Blaine Fields of Wellsville, OH.; 19 Grandchildren; 20 Great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her best friends, Eileen Thompson of Weirton, WV., and Mary Redd of Tridelphia, PA.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 11, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-9PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00AM, with Captain Goldie Long officiating.
Interment will follow at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Weirton.
Memorial contributions in memory of Dorothy should be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 238, Hurricane, WV 25516, or to the American Kidney Foundation, 6110 Executive Blvd. #1010, Rockville, MD 20852-9813.

Rose, Christopher, Kendra and Steve ….. I know it’s really hard right now, but remember, you all now have a personal Guardian Angel looking down on you and helping keep you safe. Sometimes you will feel her presence with you, especially when times are tough. I know, because I have felt my Mom is there with me. Dorothy was a great Mom, Grandma, and person, and she will be missed by everyone!

Mom (Mommy), They say it will get easier with time, it didn’t with Daddy, Now You are with him. I feel so lost, we all do. I know how a orphan feels. In your last days, your concern was that we were ok, you made us laugh so hard and so much. In your dying days You gave us one of the greastest gifts of all, You. That is how You lived your life ~ giving to us and your grandchildren. We will miss you more than anyone can imagine, but You will ALWAYS be in our hearts, right beside our Dad. Rose, I was so sorry to see that your mom passed away. We haven’t talked to seen each other in years but you and your family will be in my prayers. It does overall get better in time but there will always be “those days” (my mom & dad passed 9 yrs ago). Take care and remember all the love you shared.
Dear Gramma, I might not have been as close to you as everyone else, but you meant the world to me. From the time you moved in with Gramma it was a bumpy ride, but you held on. You were an amazing person and you loved and cared about all of us and I miss that so much. You might not be with us anymore, but you are missed everyday and I think of you every night. Mommy, Each day I think of you and miss you. My heart aches with your absence. I had many plans and things I wanted to do with you. I thank God for the time he gave me to spend with you over the years and especially since you went to the nursing home, and those last 2 weeks. You were working so hard to take care of your kids. God put me there with you so I could enjoy every minute of your love, and hold you and love you. I thank him for that. I hope and pray you know I was there with you. I got to see the sparkle in your eyes that reflected the love that I know in my heart was always there for me. Mom, Its been three months now, and it dos,nt seem to get any easy’r. But I hear you in the wind, and I feel you hear sometimes.
