Edmond Waitman Conrad

Edmond Waitman Conrad, 81, of Weirton, died Thursday July 6, 2006 at his home.
He was born January 11, 1925 in Burnsville, WV, the son of the late Carlie and Georgia Blake Conrad. Edmond was also preceded in death by his daughter, Mrs. Richard (Martha) “Marty” Battista on November 2, 2005 and five brothers, Paris, Earnest, Roy, Henry and Wayne Conrad.
Edmond retired in 1983 with 37 years of service as a Sheet Mill Line Inspector at Weirton Steel. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Edmond was a member of Colliers First Church of God, where he was a life time Elder for 52 years and was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Travers Conrad, whom he married on August 16, 1952; his daughter Sheila John of Burgettstown, PA; sisters, Delia Cogar of Burnsville, WV and Jean Rodgers of Spencer, WV, two grandchildren, Andrew (Shelby) John and Matthew (Debbie) John all of Burgettstown, PA and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 1-3 and 6-8 Saturday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Additional visitation will be 1PM until time of services at 2PM Sunday at the Colliers First Church of God.
Reverend Dennis Dawson will preside.
Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Colliers First Church of God or to the Valley Hospice.

ed conrad is someone i thought would live forever.i have some very, very fond memories of him and the family,while i was growing up in colliers and going to church. he was someone you could always count on with his quick,dry humor and caring heart. he will be greatly missed by my family and all who were blessed enough to know him. debbie dawson conway
Ed, was such a wonderful man & friend to me. He will be deeply missed. I remember growing up and always going in the back of my moms house asking Ed to please let me use the hedge clippers….he Always said ” Yes with a smile.” Over the years I’ve moved to Pittsburgh but never forgetting Ed & Mary, it was like having another set of grandparents or parents. I’ve continued over the years to stop by and see them. They both always made me feel like part of their family which truly meant the world to me. Ed will missed but I hold his smile and friendship in my heart for a lifetime. I loved him just like my very own grandfather. Mary I’ll always stop by when I’m in town, just like always.
