edna knabenshue
Edna "Blanche" McElroy Knabenshue was born November 1, 1929 in Pentress, WV, the daughter of the late Henry Lee McElroy and Mildred Moore McElroy. She passed to her eternal reward on October 21, 2015 in the Weirton Medical Center following a brief illness. She is also preceded in death by her sisters Opal and Ida McElroy and Ruth Patterson. She married Morris Carl Knabenshue on December 8, 1951. Four children blessed their union; Debra Kay Knabenshue Durila (Mike) of Claysville, PA; Edwin Mark Knabenshue (Sally) of Chester, WV; Carolyn Marie Knabenshue Elliott (Randy Theodore) of Steubenville and Timothy Carl Knabenshue of New Cumberland, WV. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and was anticipating the birth of their first great-great grandchild in November. In addition, she is survived by one sister, Anna Johnson of Washington, PA, who celebrated her 100th birthday in April. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Follansbee, WV. Mrs. Knabenshue was a devoted and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful cook who often prepared her grandchildren's favorite meals when she knew they were coming for a visit. She loved this time of year and enjoyed taking trips with her family to see the beautiful autumn colors. Visitation will be held Friday 4-8pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be celebrated 9am Saturday. The Reverend Brian Ortmann will officiate. Interment will follow in New Cumberland Cemetery, New Cumberland, WV. Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 144 Mahan Lane, Follansbee, WV 26037.
