Edward Francis "Frank" Zagula

Edward Francis “Frank” Zagula of Weirton, WV passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. His family was at his side. He was 81. Frank was born November 29, 1939 in Steubenville, Ohio to Michael and Victoria (Surdyka) Zagula. He married the love of his life, Barbara Smith Zagula, on September 12, 1959 and was blessed to celebrate 59 years of marriage before Barbara’s passing in November 2018. Frank retired from Weirton Steel with 37 years of service. Frank enjoyed spending time with his family which was rich with love. He will be remembered for his huge heart and sense of humor. Frank was known for the love of his favorite holiday, Groundhog’s Day. He called it the Hump Day of Winter. One year he was a VIP at Gobbler’s Knob and enjoyed the celebration firsthand. Most of all, Frank enjoyed watching his many grandchildren in their various activities, from football, soccer, and tennis to attending band concerts. He was proud of them all and it showed in his smile. Frank will be remembered and forever in the hearts of his four children, Elizabeth (James) Hudson of Weirton, WV; Frank E. Zagula, of Weirton, WV; Vicki (Dennis) Mayhew of Weirton, WV, and Marla (Matt) Klabnik of Cabot, PA. He will be remembered by his 13 grandchildren, Anthony (Michelle) Resseger, Sara (Jason) Dunfee, Brittany (Marcial) Resseger, Brianne (Bobbie) Resseger, Brandon Mayhew, Korey (Kayla) Mayhew, Logan (Rachel) Simon, Samantha (Brandon) Younciak, Alexander (Emma) Bennett, Cullen (Julie) Bennett, Nathanial Bennett, Tyler Klabnik, & Sydney Klabnik, as well as 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Victoria Zagula, an infant brother, Henry Zagula, his brothers Chester Zagula and Sigmund Zagula, and his sister, Antoinette Smoleski. He was also preceded in death by his faithful companion, Fluffy. Frank put his heart into everything he did. He enjoyed volunteering in his community. He had served on the Hancock County Oldtime Fair Board, WVU Extension Master Gardeners, various Booster organizations, and Church committees. He was a member of the WSX 25-Year Club and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a Jack of all Trades and enjoyed many hobbies like bowling, bocce, horseshoes, fishing, camping, photography, stained glass, and painting ceramics.
