Edward J. Slanchik, 75, of Weirton died Tuesday July 8, 2008, at the Weirton Medical Center. Ed was born on February 17 1933 in Hollidays Cove, WV, a son of the late Steve and Leona Bartuszewski Slanchik. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Eugene. Ed retired from the Coke Plant of Weirton Steel, where he was a millwright for 32 years. He served in the US Army. Ed was a member of the Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, K of C 3734, BPOE 1801, AARP 3846 and the Weirton Steel 25 year club. He is survived by his wife Lenora "Lenny" Slanchik, whom he married on October 6, 1956; his sister, Leona and Henry Muskovich of Aliquippa, PA; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and three great great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 3-7 PM Thursday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street K of C Rosary Thursday at 6 PM Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 12 Noon Friday at the Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Interment will follow at Saint Paul Cemetery, Weirton with military services by the American Legion & Weirton Honor Guard. Share tributes @grecohertnick.com
