Edward S. Rodak, 92, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Weirton Geriatric Center. Born August 5, 1926 in Weirton he was a son of the late John and Ann Tulanko Rodak. He was also preceded in death by brothers John, Michael, Joe and George Rodak and sisters Mary Chick, Libby Bailey, Ethel Mark and Ann Bugnone. After 38.5 years of service, Edward retired from C&P Phone Company. He served as a City of Weirton Councilman from 1991-1995 and was a Deputy Sheriff of Hancock County for four years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, VFW 2716, American Legion Post 10 and Pioneers from C&P. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Edith M. Hummel Rodak; daughters Patty (Bill) Filak of Weirton, Mary Ann (Blaine) McCartney of New Cumberland and Heidi (Henry) Snyder of Weirton; grandchildren Kevin and Jeff (Christel) Filak, Stacy (Alan) Lemley, Bryan Marra, Tina Stickles, Bryanna (Anthony) Marino, Hillary Snyder and Layne McCartney; great-grandchildren Shane Cutone, William Filak, Noah, Elle, Jeffy and Anniston Filak and Alex and Quinn Lemley; great-great grandsons Anthony and Landon Cutone and Beckham Marino. Friends will be received on Sunday from 1-3, 6-8 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton, where Parastas services will be held at 7:00 PM. Final blessing will be held on Monday at 9:30 AM in the funeral home followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church. Reverend Father Vasyl Symyon will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton, with military honors conducted by the U.S. Army and the American Legion Post 10.
