elena pulice
Elena Pulice, a loving mother, and nana passed away peacefully at her son Albert’s home on Saturday, October 2, 2021. She was 94 years old. Born in Palombelli, Belmonte Calabria, Italy, on July 1, 1927. Elena was one of three children born to the late Domenico and Giovanna Pulice. In 1970, at the age of 43, Elena made her voyage to America to be with her husband, Giacomino, and their two sons, who made the trip two years before in 1968. Ma, as she was respectfully known, enjoyed being a homemaker. She embraced her Italian heritage in the kitchen, making her pasta, sauce, soppressata, bread, and of course, everyone loved her cookies. In addition, she was exceptionally talented in the garden; it was evident that as you drove up to her house, you could see her plants and know that her family would be blessed with a healthy bounty year after year. Elena will be remembered for her kindness and loving ways. Her family was everything to her, and she was always the happiest when she was in their presence. Some of her favorite pastimes were playing Italian card games, gardening, and ensuring everyone had what they needed. Her generosity has transcended through her generations; this was something that was very important to her. Ma was thankful for the blessings in which she had been given in her new country, and she made sure her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were aware of the gifts they had received. In addition to her parents, Elena was preceded in death by her husband, Giacomino Pulice, on May 23, 1997, her brothers Pietro and Mercurio Pulice, and her daughter-in-law, Margaret Pulice. Elena will be remembered with an abundance of love and respect by her sons Michele and Albert (Aurora) Pulice, grandchildren Michael G. Pulice, Elaine (Albert) Vista, Adriana (Jeramie) Nagy, Dante, and Isabella Pulice, great-grandchildren Antonio, Julian, and Layla Vista, and Leyland and Lauren Nagy; her sisters in law, Olinda Conforti and Elvira Pulice and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, 4-8 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 AM at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Entombment will follow at Saint Paul’s Cemetery. Share tributes at www.grecohertnick.com 304-748-3219.
