elsie saleh
Elsie Diane Piergiovanni Saleh, of Weirton, WV, a passionate devout Christian, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on November 27, 2020. She was 80 years old. Elsie Diane was born on July 6, 1940 in Youngstown, OH to Dan and Dora Pezzeli Piergiovanni. Elsie was a homemaker who also worked and volunteered her time at the Weirton Geriatric Center. She enjoyed photography, drawing, and painting pictures. She also enjoyed riding horses. But nothing compared to the cherished moments she spent praying the rosary four times daily. She will always be remembered for the love she had for Jesus and his mother, Mary. She has longed for this day to be in their presence. Elsie was a member of Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. She also attended Saint Joseph, the Worker Roman Catholic Church, and was instrumental in having Bishop Mark E. Brennan, the current bishop of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, celebrate the Mass for the residents of the Weirton Geriatric Center. In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Hamid Saleh, on October 5, 1990. She will be remembered with love by her three sons, Gamel, Mahamid, and Dan (Bobbie) Saleh, and her daughters, Fozai and Dola Saleh. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Tuesday at Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Rev. Fr. Tony Thurston will preside. Interment will follow at Saint Paul’s Cemetery. 1. Elsie was one of the kindest ladies I’ve ever known with a big heart, she has earned her angel wings.. May she Rest in Peace. Sincerely, Marlene Runkel

  2. So sorry for your loss,I work in the dietary dept.at wgc.i will miss her smile and conversations. God bless tracy chambers

  3. Fozai, I am so sorry to hear about your Mom’s passing. God took a very special angel home to be with Him which is what she lived her entire life for. I know that you feel the loss of her here but know that you now have a very special heavenly angel watching over you. Your Mom was an amazing woman with a smile on her face and a rosary in her hands. I am so glad that I had the chance to know her at Freedom Place. My prayers and thoughts go out to your entire family and all that had a special place in their heart for her. Love and hugs, Lin

  4. The first day I met Elsie she was walking down the hall at Weirton Geriatric with a Blessed Mother T-shirt on and I asked her if SHE was the Blessed Mother and she just laughed. My mother, Dorothy Garan, was a resident at Weirton Geriatric and Elsie would come frequently to her room and pray the rosary with her. Our family was ever grateful for that kindness. All of us send our prayers to Elsie’s family and loved ones. Eternal Memory.💗

  5. Elsie was such a holy person. Dola, her daughter, was my flight instructor. When I flew alone, Elsie would say a rosary for me. When she was in town, she joined us at church. I always felt so special with her. Live and miss you.

  6. We are all Blessed to have known her. Thanks for sharing her with us. Our love and prayers are with you. Love Robin, Dick and Isabella Ash

  7. Dear Dola, Fozai and the entire Saleh family, I am so sorry for your loss. Elsie was indeed an angel on earth. We became friends when my Dad, Dr. Greco, was at the WGC. She watched over him, joined us when we went outside, and when we played cards. After he passed, I continued to visit her . Elsie will always represent to me how valuable one person can be when they help others and how much one person can do to make something happen-especially when she wrote to the bishop to ask him to come to visit the residents of WGC. And he did!! Amazing and a good lesson for us all. Thank you Elsie. I know you are happy in heaven but I’m going to really miss you!

  8. Dear Dola, Fozai and family. I will never forget how kind your mother was to me when my own mother died. She was one of the Angels that kept my heart intact as we’re all of you. I know for certain that your mother’s has joined mine in Paradise. My heart goes out to each of you. With love Betty Mathews Lawrence

  9. Dola and family, I was sorry to hear of your loss. Know that you will be in my prayers at this difficult time. Love Reese Wood

  10. Elsie would come in my shop and I would make her shirts with a picture of Jesus on them. Then when she became less mobile I would deliver the shirts to her at the towers. I called her several times at the geriatric center and sent her gifts, which made her very happy. I was planning on sending her a gift this Christmas, and it makes me very sad that she is gone. She was such a sweet, kind, loving soul and I will miss her. 💔

  11. R I P Elsie, heaven awaits you. To my brothers and sisters , I am sorry for you loss and know what a bright light Elsie was for all of you. I love you all, your older sister Laurie
