Elvin W Briggs

Elvin W. Briggs, 85, of Weirton, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019 in the Weirton Geriatric Center. He was born July 17, 1934 in Wetzel County, WV, a son of the late Thomas and Flossie Balwanz Briggs. He was also preceded in death by his wife Margaret Jackson-Briggs on September 1, 2018, grandson Nathan Yoder and brother Clifford Carl and Kenneth Briggs.
With 30 years of service, Elvin retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a millwright in the Coke Plant. He was Baptist by faith and a member of the WSX 25-Year Club. Elvin served in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his daughters Teresa Yoder (Ricky) and Tammy Briggs (Gregory Gumm) all of Weirton; brother Jerry Briggs of Wileyville, WV; grandchildren Jeffrey (Christina) and Eric Yoder and Hanna Elliott (Arick) and great grandchildren Emma, Layla and Ryan Yoder and Calvin Elliott.
Private family visitation and services were held Thursday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.
Entombment followed in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Weirton Geriatric Alzheimers unit for the excellent care they provided and the love they had for their dad.
