Ernest B. Fox, 80, of Weirton passed away March 25, 2012, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA, after long illness. Born February 16, 1932, in West Union, WV, Ernest was a son to the late James B. and Matilda Matthews Fox. He was also preceded in death by his son, Timothy Blaine, and his three sisters, Mary, Mable, and Madeleine Fox. Ernest retired with 44 years of service with Weirton Steel, where he was a manager of Accounts Payable, Stores Invoicing, Statistical and Accounts Receivable. A former student of the College of Steubenville, Ernest loved and respected life. He especially loved his family. Ernest enjoyed the outdoors, it did not matter if he was hunting, fishing, working on his family's farm or hitting the golf ball, as he was an avid golfer at the Pleasant Valley Country Club. Ernest served in the Korean War with the United States Army, the rank of Sergeant and was an active member of the American Legion Post 10, and the V.F.W. 2716. He was also a member of the Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, and the K of C 3734. He is survived by his loving wife, Scharmaine (Chambers) Fox of 57 years; daughters, Patricia Joann Fox Henzler (Mark), Cynthia Mesler (Thomas), Barbara Beasley (Robin), Mary Margaret Everett (Richard); a son, John B. Fox; brothers, John and James Fox. Ernest was a proud pap pap of Melissa, Amanda, and Jonathan Mesler, Megan Moore (Bryon), Alicia, Alexis and Mark Henzler; and Erica Everett; and a proud great pap pap of Thomas Mesler, Evan and Colin Moore. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Wednesday, at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited 6 PM Wednesday. Funeral Liturgy with mass will be celebrated 10 AM Thursday at the Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Dean Borgmeyer will preside. Interment will follow at Saint Paul Cemetery, Weirton, WV, with military services conducted by the American Legion Firing Squad. Share tributes at grecohertnick.com.
