Eugene A. Labutis, 84, of Weirton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 15, 2016. Born on April 11, 1932 in Cecil, PA, Eugene was the son of the late Anthony and Jennie Mateusiak Labutis. He was also preceded in death by his son, David Labutis and daughter, Annette Beagle. With 37 years of service, Eugene retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as an operator on the Tin Mill cutting lines. A very talented man, Eugene built his own home, along with many other homes in the community. In his free time he enjoyed working in his garage, and will always be remembered for his ability to pull a practical joke. He served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Paul Church, where he was an usher, a fish fry volunteer, a member of the Holy Name and Christ Renews His Parish. He was a member of the VFW 2716 and the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club. Eugene is survived by his wife Donna J. Miller Labutis of Weirton; his daughters Katrina Labutis Williams (Thomas) of Weirton and Renee Labutis Traynor (Randy) of Tallahasee, FL; son-in-law Randy Beagle of Weirton and grandchildren Joshua Williams, Brittney Widel, and Austin Traynor. Visitation will be 1-3 & 6-8 PM Sunday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Monday at Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Entombment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery where military services will be conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard, and the United States Army. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Church, 140 Walnut Street, Weirton, WV 26062.

  4. We enjoyed many exciting Mountaineer footballs games with Mr. Labutis over the years. He was a great friend to my parents. Still have the wooden ‘WVU girl on a swing” hanging in a tree at my house that he made for us. Such fond memories. Prayers for him, and our sincere condolences to the family. Rest in peace.

  10. So saddened to hear of your dear husband’s, father’s, grandfather’s passing. He always had a smile on his face and was always making me laugh. I still have the one dollar bill he folded into a bow tie and gave to me. Whenever anyone asked about it, I would tell them about him, He will live on in our minds and hearts for the good and honorable, loving man he was to many, many of us. Remember, this is not the end, but his glorious beginning with our Lord.
