Forrest W. (Bill) Felton, Sr.

Forrest W. "Bill" Felton, Sr., 81, of Weirton, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2009 at his home. Born May 4, 1928 in Paden City, WV, he was the son of the late Ezra C. and Mary L. Mercer Felton. He was also preceded in death by five sisters Mildred Yost Lightner, Gertrude Leasure, Carol Loy, Lenora Gilmore and Goldie Ellen.
With 45 years of service, Bill retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a foreman in the No. 1 Blast Furnace. He was a member of the Weirton Covenant Church, Weirton Masonic Lodge 171 and WSX 25-Year Club. Bill proudly served in the United States Army during World War II where he was stationed in the South Pacific.
Mr. Felton is survived by his wife Thelma C. Thomas Felton of Weirton, whom he married December 24, 1948; sons Charles "Frank" Felton and his wife Ann Marie of North Carolina and Forrest "Bill" Felton, Jr. and his wife Beverly of Weirton; five grandchildren Mary Margaret Felton of Weirton, Charles "Frank" Felton of North Carolina, Brandy Felton Guthrie of Weirton, Kimberly of New Manchester, WV and Bill of Fairborn, Ohio; nine great grandchildren and sisters Iva Clark of Sarasota, FL, Shelva Whipkey of Wheeling, WV and Kay Lightner of Moundsville, WV.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where funeral services will be celebrated 11AM Thursday. Pastor James Foglio will officiate. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton where Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion Firing Squad.
Bill, Bev, Brandy and Family, Please accept my condolences during this very difficult time. Please take comfort in knowing that he is at peace now. If there is anything that I can do please let me know. You are in our thoughts and prayers!!!!
Uncle Bill was, no doubt, the best uncle a girl could ever have. I will never forget spending the weekends with Mary Margaret and going to visit Uncle Bill and Aunt Thelma. My sadness is lightened only by knowing that Christ surrounds him now and he no longer suffers. May Jesus comfort my family as they grieve such a loss. What a man he was, and so strong and gentle. My father and I have always had an extra special bond that could clearly be seen by all.His love for me was deep and I will always feel his love even though he has left this earth.He will toil and serve on this earth no more but instead be served in heaven.Be happy for my father for he has surely earned his place in heaven.
I have been blessed with a great Father-in-law. I have known him for 43 years. He was a strong yet gentle man, full of love, compassion and forgivness. Although he will truely be missed, the comforting thought is that he walks with the angels now and some day I will see him again. Thank you Lord for giving us such a wonderful man.
PTL Sister Thelma Our heart goes out for your loss, a part of our heart rejoices knowing the Brother Felton has been received by the King of Kings.You and Bro Forest are such a blessing to my wife and I. As our family grew with 4 sons. I remember the excitment that Bro Forest had when we brought our sons to their first church service. Bro Forest received them with opening arms and a soft heart. Bro Forest had always enjoyed sitting with the boys and talking to them. What I appreciate the most of Bro Forest was his labor of prayers through the adoption of our four sons and his encouraging words through that process. Even though we mourn for this moment on earth the celebration that Brother Forest is enjoying today far surpasses anything we could ever experience on this earth. Know that my family’s prayers are with you and your family during this time. While we serve God on this earth, one day we will be able to enjoy the reception that the Lord has blessed Bro Felton with.
Mrs. Felton, Young Bill (as Dad always called you), Beverly, Brandy and family, Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time. Mr. Felton was a good man–always had his hand up to say hi when I came in the lane. He and Dad had some good times with their horses. Take care and if you need anything, don’t hesitate.
