Frances Ann “Cookie” Veltri, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. She was 85. Frances Ann was born on April 26, 1935, in Weirton, WV, to Stanley and Agnes Paneck Maslowski. Cookie, as she was known to family and friends, received her name from her aunt because, as a baby, she was sweet as a cookie. She met her husband, Joe, on the Weirton Heights School playground, and they were married over 63 years. They were blessed with three sons and five grandchildren. Cookie enjoyed baking and cooking, and caring for her family. She also worked outside her home, with the City of Weirton, where she worked for 17 years. She also worked at G.C. Murphy, Weirton Daily Times, and Weirton General Hospital. Cookie was an active parishioner of Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Weirton. She was a eucharistic minister, greeter, and a member of the Altar Society, Christian Mothers, and a faithful and dedicated volunteer on the Bereavement Committee. She was also involved in the Three Score Seniors, where she was past president and historian. She will always be remembered as a tremendously thoughtful, considerate lady who was always first in line to help others. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe Maslowski and Richard Paszuk; and her sister, Margie Damiano. She will be remembered with love and admiration by her husband, Joseph John Veltri, Sr.; her three sons, Joseph John Veltri, Jr (Theresa); Michael Anthony Veltri (Lori) and John Anthony Veltri (Linda); her grandchildren, Robbie Joseph, Christopher Michael, Anthony Ryan, Luke Marco, and Morgan Elizabeth Veltri; her brothers, Stanley “Sunny” Maslowski, Jr., Sammy Repella (Beverly) and John Repella (Denise); her sisters, Dorothy Escott and Dolores Joynson; her grand-pets, Maggie, Jinx, Oreo and White Kittie several cousins, nieces, nephews and many great friends. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday at Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Entombment will follow at Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Weirton.   5. I am so sorry to hear of Cookie’s passing. I have such fond memories of Cookie and Joe’s 60th Anniversary celebration and I was touched by the legacy they created together. Such a beautiful family! My heartfelt condolences, of course, to her family and friends – but also her extended St. Paul’s Parish family. She was definitely one of those ladies who was definitely part of the parish “heart beat”. <3 Prayers.

Have known Mrs. Veltri since 1st grade and she was always great to all the students at St. Paul’s. She loved watching her kids play sports and always supportive. She will be greatly missed.   11. I am so sorry to hear of Cookie’s passing, I just found out today and missed her services. Cookie was just the sweetest person. She was my boss while I was a crossing guard and meter maid with the City of Weirton. It was a sad day for us girls when she retired! She was so easy to work for and really cared about the crossing guards and supported us! She will be forever missed! My thoughts and prayers go to her family as they grieve the loss of one awesome lady!
