Francis Pierce, 79, of Colliers, WV, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010 in the Weirton Medical Center. Born January 11, 1931 in Pigeon Run, PA, he was a son of the late George Dewey and Haligh Catherine Warricks Pierce. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Thomas, Charles and George Pierce and sister Mary DeBolt. With 30 years of service, Mr. Pierce retired from Weirton Steel. He was a member of the Weirton Heights Church of Christ and WSX 25-Year Club. Francis enjoyed working on cars and lawnmowers. He was an avid horseshoe player. Francis is survived by his wife of 58 years, Thelma Wade Pierce of Colliers; daughter Barbara Pierce Dunn of Colliers; brothers James Pierce and Russell Pierce of New Freeport, PA and twin brother Frank Pierce; sisters Junnie Johnson and Lilly Mae Yoders of New Freeport, PA and Rosalee Trent of Cleveland, OH; three grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Monday 6 until the 8PM funeral services at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. The Reverend Steve Smithbauer will preside. Graveside services will be held 11AM Tuesday, March 23 at the Thomas Cemetery, Sand Hill, PA.

  4. Tho’ my uncle by marriage, you were always like my second father. You & Aunt Thelma have ALWAYS been there for ALL of us. You never talked bad of no one. If you did it was a simple baaaalogni. You will be irreplaceable & leave a void that will never be filled. It seems there’s ALWAYS been Uncle Francis, “Jake”, “Sam”, or Carter, but now you’re gone. I know you will sadly be missed by everyone who knew you. We LOVE you Uncle Francis.

  7. Pap will always be in my heart and I will never forget him. He was a great guy who never had a bad word to say about anyone. I will never forget his voice or his smile he had for anyone he ment. God will take care of him until we join him again. you will be sadly missed.

  8. i love you to death pap. i miss you like mad. its not been the same without you being here. it will never be the same. you have always been apart of my life and now i wont get to see my buddy in this world again. i will never forget you. you have taught me so much since i was able to walk. we always worked on tires. i will miss that. but your still alive in my heart and you will always be. i never got to give you a hug. put as soon as i to see u in heaven i will finally get to give it to you. i found a song called “save a place for me” its by mathew wes. its my song to you. i love you so much.
