frank zablackas
Frank Zablackas, 89, of Weirton died Friday December 19, 2003, at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born on August 2, 1914 in Steubenville, OH, the son of the late William and Antoinette Sholonis Zablackas. Frank retired after 44 years of service as a welder in the welding shop of Weirton Steel. He was the co-founder of the Weirton Termite Association, where he coached baseball and basketball for 15 years. Frank was a member of Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Saint Paul Cub Scouts, Charter member of the K of C 3734; 25 year club of Weirton Steel; Madonna High School Boosters, Saint Paul Boosters. His love for photography, enabled him to be the historian, for all the organization that he was affiliated with. He is survived by his wife, Sophie Yarosz Zablackas, whom he married on November 8, 1941; his four sons, Francis and his wife Carolyn of Weirton, John and his wife Gretchen of Sarasota, FL, William and his wife Peggy of Weirton, Lawrence and his wife Sandy of Fort Myers, FL; his two daughters, Carolyn Dennler of Pittsburgh, PA and Christine Benard and her husband Michael of Rochester, NY; a sister, Della Kalisz of Steubenville, OH; 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6:30-9 PM Monday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton Knights of Columbus Rosary 7 PM Monday Funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated 9:30 AM Tuesday, at the Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Saint Paul Cemetery. He was always so proud of his wife and family and made all of us feel special. There will always be moments in our lives when we miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams or memories and just hug them.
