Gary Lee Clovis, 69, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016 in Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, OH. He was born November 4, 1946 in Clarksburg, WV, the son of Lillian Gecoma Clovis of Weirton and the late Carl Clovis. With over 40 years of service, Gary worked for Weirton Steel where he served as the planning scheduler in the production department. He served his country in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War, where he was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, I.O.O.F and the National American Legion. Being a big movie buff, Gary loved watching Turner Classic Movies especially when the star was John Wayne. He also enjoyed watching the University of Alabama Football games "Roll Tide" and the Dallas Cowboys. In addition to his mother, Gary is survived by his wife Joan Moore Clovis of Weirton, whom he married October 26, 1968; sons Eric (Melody) Clovis of Weirton and Bret (Jenniver) Clovis of Cross Junction, VA; daughters Carrie (Michael) Lipovich of Weirton; grandchildren Alexandria Clovis, Johnny Clovis, Jason Lipovich, Margaret Clovis and Matthias Clovis and sister Darla (Kent) Householder of Weirton. Visitation will be held Sunday 1-3 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services where be held 11AM Monday. Pastor Carol McKay will officiate. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton where Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard, and the US Army. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311 or to the Alzhemer's Association (alz.com) since his father had the disease.

  1. My condolences to the family. Although I did not know Gary, I know his sister. I lost my brother and losing a sibling can be very hard. It hits close and your own mortality seems more real. May the memories of Gary help to bridge the gap of grief to acceptance. Praying for peace for all family members.
