George Patrick "Bucky" Dresel, 56, of Weirton, passed away of natural causes, Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born March 19, 1951 in Steubenville, Ohio, he was the son of Margaret M. Smerek Dresel of Weirton and the late George J. Dresel, Jr. who passed away December 26, 2006. He is also preceded in death by his niece Katharine "Katie" Dresel on July 13, 2005. Bucky graduated from Madonna High School. He worked for Weirton Steel in the Tin Mill Production Planning Department and was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. Bucky loved his family and everybody loved him. He was an avid Dale Earnhart, Jr., NASCAR, Pittsburgh Steelers, WVU and Notre Dame fan. Because of his appreciation for motorcycles and cars, he loved building models. He won several awards from the local model-builders shows. In addition to his mother, Bucky is survived by his brother Jerry Dresel and his wife Maria of Long Island, NY; sister Peggy A. Dresel Chek and her husband Joseph of Weirton; nieces and nephews Emily and Jenna Dresel, Matthew and D. M. Dobrick and Kristin, Joey and Kelly Chek. Friends will be received Friday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 12 Noon Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church with Reverend Father Larry Dorsch officiating. Entombment will be in St. Paul Mausoleum, Weirton.
