Grace Virginia Bloom

Quietly and peacefully, on Tuesday, July 22, Grace Virginia Bloom, 90, of Weirton transitioned from this earth to claim her heavenly reward. Her crown will be full of jewels that she earned as she labored in the vineyard for the Lord. Born in Gary, WV on March 11, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Felix and Edna Rumley Gilreath. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas A. Bloom, on September 29, 1990; two sons, Thomas E. Bloom on January 18, 1963 and Russell A. Bloom on September 5, 1999; and a sister Etta Mae Gist Thomas on January 23, 1981. Grace was a homemaker, who was vested in her children and their activities. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her flowers especially her roses, shopping and collecting Angels. Her church was a very important part of her life. She was an active member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Weirton for many years. She was a member of the Weirton Housing Authority Board in the 1970's. She was formerly involved with the Eastern Star and the BPOE in North Weirton. She leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy three sons; Leonard O. Bloom (Margaret) of O'Fallon, IL, Robert L. Bloom (Sherrell) of Baltimore, MD and Keith Bloom of Weirton, WV; two daughters Cheryl A. Smith of Baltimore, MD and Stephanie K. Simmons (William T. "Jack") of Monroeville, PA; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday 1-3 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11AM at the Morning Star Baptist Church, 3124 Weir Ave. Weirton, WV. The Reverend Willie Nevels will preside. Interment will be in Paris Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of her husband Thomas A. Bloom or to the Susan G. Komen Organization.
