Helen Georgina Kirk, 86, of Weirton, died Sunday, August 9, 2020, at the Weirton Geriatric Center. Helen was born on August 12, 1933, in East Detroit, Michigan to Edward and Lavina Chapdelaine Forbes. She grew up in East Detroit and was roller skating at a local rink when she met Harry Dale Kirk. They fell in love and were married on December 17, 1955. Helen and Harry purchased and owned and operated Kirk Chevrolet-Oldsmobile in Roscommon, Michigan. Later in her career, Helen was a “Legion of Leaders” award winning car saleswoman. She remained in the top 10% of car sales in the nation for ten consecutive years. In her younger days, Helen was an award-winning amateur roller skater. She and her husband were still rollerskating into their mid-seventies. Helen was also a very talented Milliner, creating her hats and decorating them with flowers she made herself from fabrics and wire. She often donated her beautiful hats to her church for fundraisers. Very involved in the charismatic movement of the Catholic Church, Helen enjoyed going to prayer meetings at the Franciscan University in Steubenville. She nourished her faith at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, where she was a Lector and a Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of the BPW and former leader of the Girl Scouts of America. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her sister, Deloris Dobias. She will be remembered with tremendous love by her husband of 64 ½ years, Harry Dale Kirk of Weirton; her daughters, Kristine Annette (Stanley) Tracy of Bloomfield, MI; and Sandra Michelle (Joseph) Holmes of Cannonsburg, PA; her grandchildren, Audrey (Aaron) Holsclaw, Noelle (Shaun) Rohweder, Joseph “Kirk” (Sarah) Holmes, Dr. Michelle (Max) Wiener, and James A. Tracy; her great-grandchildren, Owen, Isaac and Isabell Rohweder, Julius and Marion Wiener, Deliah and Margot Holsclaw and Landon and Xavier Tracy. Private family visitation will be held Wednesday at Greco Hertnick Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. 8. The last I “saw” Helen was at a Mousseau summer reunion held at Oak Beach, Michigan, probably in the late 1990s early 2000s, and Helen was as beautiful as ever – so much like this picture posted here. Harry – I recall you were there too. Yes, you were cute, but this isn’t about you, so let’s move on. Anyway, the Forbes-Chapdelaine gene pool created a couple of real regal ladies – Helen and her sister Delores – both of whom I had always admired from afar growing up. My condolences and prayers to Harry and the family. Peace and God Bless, Sally Blach
