Helen Mariatta Yourd, 94, of Weirton, passed away Friday, July 8, 2011 in the Weirton Medical Center. Born February 4, 1917 in Weirton, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Emelia Oster Walmar. He was also preceded in death by her husband William Patterson Yourd on August 21, 1983 and son James Yourd, sisters Elma Sundholm, Ila Larson, Senya Myers and brothers Jack, Tom and Everett Walmar. Mrs. Yourd was a homemaker, a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Weirton and a life member of the Weirton Chapter 147 Order of the Eastern Star. Helen is survived by her son Thomas W. Yourd and his wife Carol of Weirton; daughter in law Marilyn Pasquesi and her husband Larry of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren David and his wife Karrie and Jeffrey Yourd, Bonnie Archer and her husband Robert and Robert McQuiston; 5 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Friends will be received Monday 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be celebrated 11AM Tuesday. The Reverend Jaclin Ryan Bussey will officiate. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton.

  5. Tom, I remember what a kind person your Mother was to all us kids on Weircrest in the late 50s. Your home was so beautiful and I remember especially the window treatments she made. She was one talented woman! My Sister, Joyce, sent me your Mother’s obituary and I wanted to express my condolences to you and your wife.
