Helena Sasyn

Helena Sasyn, 80, of Weirton, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in The Orchards at Fox Crest in Chester, WV. She was born June 26, 1936 in Poland, a daughter of the late Walenty and Katheryn Paszt Sasyn. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Zigmunt and Joseph; and sisters Regina, Leokadia, Cathrine, Anna and Janina. Helena came to America, with her family, at the age of 13. She worked on a farm in Weston, WV prior to her 45 years of service in the laundry department of the former Weirton General Hospital. Helena was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Church. Her favorite pastimes, were crocheting, listening to country music, camping, polka dancing and gardening. But most of all she loved spending time with her family. Helena is survived by her brothers John and Roman; sisters Mary and Czesia and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday 4-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10am Tuesday at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church. The Reverend Father Dennis Schuelkens, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, P. O.
