Howard J. Gelini, 95, of Weirton, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at the Weirton Medical Center. Born October 19, 1911 in Colliers, he was the son of the late Angelo C. and Bianca Amadeo Gelini. Howard was also preceded in death by his wife Virginia E. Donell Gelini on February 16, 2006; brothers Floyd, Elmo and Walter Gelini and sisters Wilma Gelini DeSantis and Dahlia Gelini. Howard graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Engineering. He also was a University 2-Year Letterman having played in the Rose Bowl. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church. He retired from Weirton Steel where he worked on the Electrolytic Lines. Howard’s survivors include his son Howard R. “Bud” Gelini of Oakland, CA; daughter Deya Hill of Orinda, CA; sister Ella DiBartolomeo of Weirton; four grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 11AM Saturday at St. Joseph the Worker Church with Reverend Father Dean Borgmeyer presiding. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery.
