Irene M. Newbrough, 86, of Weirton, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away Friday, July 17, 2009 in the Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, OH. Born June 1, 1923 in Weirton, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Samaras Fidelis. She was also preceded in death by her husband Francis William Newbrough and three sisters. From 1947 until her retirement in 1985, Mrs. Newbrough owned and operated the former Weirton Studio; now known throughout the valley as Newbrough Photo. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weirton. Irene is survived by her sons John F. Newbrough and his wife Jennie, David M. Newbrough and his wife Cheryl all of Weirton and Francis W. Newbrough, Jr. and his wife Janet of Lady Lakes, FL; daughters Kathy Newbrough-Simon and her husband Paul of Nutter Fort, WV and Renie Newbrough-Burdette and her husband Michael of Follansbee, WV; sister Cleo Harris of Baltimore, MD;14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. According to Mrs. Newbrough�s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of her family. Irene will be laid to rest in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, OH 43943 or American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 2166, Weirton, WV 26062. Years ago, I can remember your Dad and Mom visiting my parents after coming back from Flordia, your Mom was very tan and wearing a flower in her long dark hair…(very exotic for Weirton!)I loved seeing her in the photo store, she was tiny but mighty. Years have just gone by so quickly, yet the memories of your parents and my parents being such good friends are etched in my heart and charished.God bless all of you at this time in your life and always. And I have to say the one thing that stands out right now is the fact that no matter where I saw her she ALWAYS had a big smile and a warm hello to share. She was such a sweet lady and always had a smile on her face and something funny to say. It has been a long time since the coffee shop but I still remember that smile and a way about her that made everyone comfortable. Take comfort in knowing that many people loved her.
