Irene S. Rybka, 86, of Weirton was born to John and Stephanie (Szczepanski) Wisniewski in Natrona, PA, on September 25, 1917. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who enjoyed the simple things in life, like spending time with her family. On her 21st birthday, September 25, 1938, she married John A. Rybka, Sr. They had two children, John and Marlene. Irene was a homemaker, and also worked as a tin sorter in the Weirton Steel Tin Mill. Her husband retired in Plant Protection of Weirton Steel. He passed away on April 11, 1996. Irene was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and the Rosary Society. On January 11, 2004, Irene passed peacefully at the Weirton Medical Center. In addition to her parents and her husband, Irene was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Wesley; her 3 sisters, Jennie Taflan, Wanda and Henrietta Wisniewski. She is survived by her son, John A. Rybka, Jr.; her daughter, Mrs. Michael (Marlene) Runkel all of Weirton; two grandsons, Shawn and Jason Rybka of Weirton, four granddaughters, Mrs. Matt (Diahanna) Shafer of Weirton, Mrs. Joe (Lisa) Boron of Lugoff, SC; Mrs. Rob (Lori) Rypka of Frederick, MD, and Ms Amy Runkel of Raleigh, NC; a great granddaughter, Kathryn Elizabeth “Katie” Rypka of Frederick, MD; a brother, Steve Wesley and his wife Janet of St. Clair Shores, MI; two Sisters in law, Jean Wesley of Virginia Beach, VA, and Clara Rybka Almason Battista of Weirton; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 3-9 Wednesday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. A Vigil Service will be held 8:30 PM Wednesday in the funeral home. Funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday at the Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Rev. Father Walter Jagela will preside.
