James Francis McCune, 77, of Weirton passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at the Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born September 9, 1928 in Holliday’s Cove, WV, the son of the late Patrick A. and Teresa Haney McCune. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Bill and Lawrence McCune. Jim was retired with 50 years of service from Carpenters Union Local 186, Steubenville, OH. He served his country in the US Army. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Weirton, the Knights of Columbus and the Pleasant Valley Country Club. Jim is survived by his wife Barbara Jean (Weinman) McCune of Weirton, whom he married on September 2, 1950, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Steubenville, OH; sons, Pat and his wife Marijo of Columbus, OH; Tom and his wife Pam of Frankfort Springs, PA; Jim of Weirton; Tim of Weirton; John of Upper St Clair, PA; Bill and his wife Mary of Glenshaw, PA and Dan and his wife Patti of Weirton, WV; nineteen grandchildren, Colleen, Tom, Sean, Annie, Jimmy, Katie, Matt, Janie, Lee, John, Joe, Michael, Dan, Katie, Alicia, Rachel, Alex, Devon and Patrick McCune and great granddaughter Lucy McCune. Visitation will be Wednesday 6-8PM and Thursday 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St, Weirton, WV, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited Thursday at 6:00PM in the funeral home. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be Friday, 10:00AM, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Weirton, WV. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville, OH.   12. I work in the Hancock County Clerk’s office so I saw Mr. McCune almost everyday he worked. He always had a joke or funny story to share. He spoke with great pride and affection of his family, especially “Miss Barbara”. We will miss him greatly. I’m sure he was in heaven long before the Devil knew he had gone from us all.
