James Johnson
October 13, 1937 ~ November 26, 2000
James Johnson, 63, of Weirton, passed away on Sunday November 26, 2000 surrounded by his family at their home.
He was born on October 13, 1937 in Amenotta, WV.
He was preceded in death by his father, John C. Johnson; his daughter Veronica Lynn Richards and his two sisters, Nancy Mitchell and Martha Bear.
He received his degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan University, and served his country in the United States Air Force in Vietnam. He was the Director of the Public Works in the City of Weirton from 1968 - 1982 and the Director of the Public Works for the City of College Park MD from 1982 - 1996.
He is survived by his mother, Georgia W. Ashbrook Johnson of Weirton; His wife, Mattie Boothe Johnson, whom he married on April 12, 1955; his four daughters, Kimberly D. Huffman and Jamie C. Johnson both of Weirton; Rosa Elaine Olshenske of Pittsburgh and Mattie M. Scicchitano of Lusby, MD; his brother, John C. Johnson of Bristol, Tennessee;and his 9 grandchildren, Melissa, James, Nicole, Kim, Josh, Zach, Scott, Cathy and Chrissy.
He was a member of the Mercy Baptist Church in Weirton and the American Legion
Friends received Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, where services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM.
Interment will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, with military graveside services conducted by the American Legion Post 10 honor Guard, VFW 2716 Firing Squad and the Tri State Marine Corps.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Hey Tawtaw its been a while… i miss you so much. i keep thinking how things were when you were here and how different they are now. some things i wouldnt change tho! like the the 3 beautiful grand babies you have from me and the life long lessons i have had to learn. but just so EVERYONE knows…. i still think about you all of the time and we all miss you so very much.
