Jerome Patrick Connell, 79, of Weirton, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 at his home. He was born April 29, 1937 in Weirton, a son of the late James Edward and Josephine Bright Connell. He was also preceded in death by his wife and love of his life Rose Mary Rusinovich Connell and brother James "Sonny" Connell, Jr. With over 30 years of service, Mr. Connell retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a Rigger. He served in the US Army and was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church. Jerome was a history buff but thoroughly enjoyed traveling to the south and northwest United States, but truly loved the beach time spent with his grandchildren. Jerome is survived by his daughters Rose Ann Connell Wargacki of Lebanon, OH, Mary (Craig) Flowers of Weirton and Gloria (John) Guio of Ashburn, VA; brothers John "Jack" (Mary Jo) Connell of Maryland, Thomas (Irene) Connell of Pittsburgh, PA, Robert (Ruth) Connell and Timothy (Chris) Connell all of Weirton; sisters Dorothy Martin of New Cumberland, WV, Carol (Salvadore) Trullijo of Weirton and Patricia Brock of California; grandchildren Lauren, Rachel, Matthew, Emily and Ashley and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Thursday at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church with Father Walter M. Jagela officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, OH 43943.
