Joan H. Vorhees, 72, of Weirton, died Friday, December 26, 2003 at the Allegheny General Hospital. She was born July 2, 1931 in Wheeling WV, daughter of the late Walter T. and Mary Austie Friend Henderson. Joan retired from Mary H. Weir Public Library where she worked, as a supervisor in technical services. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Weirton. She is survived by her husband Frank Millen “Mel” Vorhees; three daughters Carol Vorhees-Zeigler and her husband James, Mary Ruth Kraina and her husband John both of Weirton; and Donna Vorhees and her husband James Shine of Ipswich, MA; one sister Martha Robinson of Weirton and two grandchildren; Joseph Michael Kraina and Lauren Michele Zeigler. Friends will be received Sunday from 1-3 and 7-9PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday Rev. Rick Tinsky will preside. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling WV Memorial contributions can be sent to American Lung Assoc. of WV, P.O. Box 3980, Charleston, WV 25339 or to the donor’s charity.
