Joan P. Gallagher

After a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis, Joan P. Gallagher, 86, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013 in the Weirton Medical Center. Born in Johnstown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lymira Ferguson Pollas. She was also preceded in death by her husband William S. "WS" Gallagher in 2006, whom she married in 1951.
Mrs. Gallagher was a homemaker and a member of Cove Presbyterian Church.
Joan is survived by her sons David of Weirton and Bruce and his wife Kathy of Bradford, PA.
There will be no visitation or funeral services. In honoring Joan's wishes, her body has been donated to the WVU School of Medicine.
Her family would like to thank Weirton Medical Center and Life Line Hospital for all care given their mother. A special thank you is being given to Kathy C., Mike and Barry for being there for Joan.

David and Bruce I am sorry to have read that your MOM choose not to have calling hours, but that is so much like your mom. I am glad to have had such a longtime relationship with the Gallaghers who left Vireo Dr to go live in the hole. David the days will seem so long and empty without your mom in the house. May your mom’s Memory be Eternal, I will miss talking to your mom and the other day When I saw an owl I immediately thought of her.
