Joanne R. Cook, 80 of Colliers, WV, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013 in the Acuity Hospital, Steubenville, OH. Born on July 30, 1932 in Shinntown, PA. She was a daughter of the late Earl and Maggie Merideth Allen. She was also preceded in death by her husband John Cook in 1986, brothers William and Jack Allen and sisters Pearl Price, Mabel Baker, Barbara Wolfe, Esther Hurst, Dorothy Williams, Jeanne Socha and Mary Lou Tanis. For 17 years, Mrs. Cook served as a social worker for the Salvation Army. She was a very active member of the Colliers United Methodist Church and the church choir. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed playing euchre, music and playing the piano. Joanne is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Cook of Colliers and April (Butch) Schill of Boyers, PA; step-daughter Debbie Henry of Lisbon, OH; brothers Don (Gerri) Allen of Miamisburg, OH and Wesley (Bernice) Allen of Wellsburg, WV; sister Marjorie Leppar of Weirton; grandchildren Jeremy (Terri) Allen of Weirton, Michael (Angela) Allen of Steubenville and Sara (Joe) Nyman of Ogilvie, MN; 5 great-grandchildren and very special friends Gary and Norma Dulaney of Colliers. A 4:00 PM Memorial Service will be held Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the Colliers United Methodist Church. The Reverend Don Stilgenbauer will officiate. Private interment will be held at the convenience of Mrs. Cook's family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.

  7. April & Beth, Another chapter in the Book of Our Life has been written. I apologize for not knowing of her passing until now. Joanne & my late Mother were very good friends. April & Beth are like extended sisters to me and my family. She is greatly missed and I will hold her in my memory through all of my days.
