John B. Travers, Jr.

John B. Travers, Jr., 69 of Weirton died January 31, 2001 in the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. John was born on Sunday December 13, 1931, in Wheeling WV. He is the son of the late John B. and Nellie Moore Travers. His wife, Elsie (Henline) Travers, also preceded him in death on Friday September 3, 1982. John served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He worked as a clerk in the railroad of Weirton Steel for 30 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and the Saint Paul Choir, K of C 3734 and the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club. John, is survived by a son, William G. Duffy and his daughter in law Betty of Weirton, a daughter Mrs. Virginia Dugan and a son in law Gene of Saint Louis, MO, a brother William M. Travers and a sister in law Mary of Weirton, a sister Mary Ann Conrad and a brother in law Edmond of Weirton, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitations will be held 2-4 & 7-9 PM Friday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday at the Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be in Saint Paul Cemetery, Weirton.
