John Baltich

John Baltich, 81, of Weirton, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011 in the Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Born December 28, 1929 in Weirton, he was a son of the late Charles and Anna Roksandich Baltich. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Bronko, George, Peter and S. Daniel Baltich.
Mr. Baltich retired from Weirton Steel where he worked in refrigeration repair. He was a member of the Restoration Church in Steubenville, OH and the WSX 25-Year Club. He was an avid golfer and bowler. John was always a willing participant to try something new. He served in the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife Jean Robert Baltich of Weirton; son John R. Baltich and his wife Nicole; daughter Laura B. Docherty all of Columbus, OH; brothers Mitchell Baltich and his wife Shirlee of Weirton and Charles Baltich, Jr. and his wife Norma of San Bernadino, CA; sisters JoAnn Thompson of Spring Hill, FL and Nancy L. Baltich of Weirton and grandson Alexander M. Docherty.
Friends will be received Sunday, March 6 from 2-8pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be celebrated 11am Monday. The Pastor Gary C. Lilly will officiate. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to Restoration Church, 108 Phillips Lane, Steubenville, OH 43952.
I love you, Dad. I want to thank you for all the wonderful years that I got to have you in my life, for being my rock on this earth, for all of the laughs, all the advice, and for loving me no matter who I was or what I did. And I want to say thank you for being the best grandfather that my son could have ever asked for. We’ll miss you until we see you again!
Laura, Words can not express how deeply saddened I am for all of you! You were blessed with a wonderful father, friend and role model. I’m grateful to him for giving me one of the best friends I could ever ask for…..you! He will forever look down on you, smiling. Love, thoughts and prayers!!!
Jean, John & Laura: My heart sank when I learned of John’s passing tonight. So many of my memories growing up include him and all of you! His hugs, even after not seeing him for a few years, were the best! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. All my love, Kathi
Mrs. Baltich, I am so very sorry to hear about John. You know I will always remember him from all the good times at the bowling alley. Had a lot of good times there and also a lot of good laughs. jean and family,john was one of my moms best friends. she really respected him and thought he was one of the smartest people she knew. God bless you all.
My sympathies to the entire Baltich family. All the men have been friends of my father (George) for many years. I believe they grew up living close together. May his memory be eternal.

Dear Jean, I was a new nurse in the early 1980’s working my first job in Steubenville. You took me under your wing and taught me so much. My husband and I were newly-weds and you & John opened your hearts and home to us. We have never forgotten your kindness. We read of John’s passing with great sadness. Jean & Family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Fond memories of John include his vibrance and zest for life. He had a wonderful laugh. I remember well him joking and interacting with his brothers on our visits to Weirton. He was always fun to be around and visit.

Baltich family, Please accept my sympathies. I met John through bowling – for one season I was in the Monday night league at Steel Valley. He was a very kind and pleasant gentleman.
Laura your Father was one of the most giving and wisest men I was so blessed to have known. Growing up on Marland Heights and spending so much time at your parents home-eating many meals there-endless laughs and oh yes, the mischief I created. As I became and adult your Dad and I grew closer…I will miss watching his eyes light up when I entered the room and the wonderful conversations we shared. I will miss this man but will never forget him.
John and Laura, I love you. Im sorry for You and your family. I can’t imagine the wonders your Dad is experiencing right now with the King. I remember one time your dad took his whole vacation and painted the outside of your house. I look forward to Giving you a hug.
