John H. Summers, 67, of Weirton, passed away Friday, September 29, 2006 at the Valley Hospice Palliative Care Unit in Steubenville, OH.
Born August 29, 1939 in Middlebourne, WV, he was the son of the late James Ralph and Elizabeth Summers. John was also preceded in death by his sister Nellie Summers.
John loved his work and his friends at the Hancock County Sheltered Workshop.
John’s survivors include his sister Nadene Summers of Dansville, New York, and his friends and caregivers at the geri house.
Visitation will be 11 am until the time of Funeral services at 12 PM Monday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.
Pastor Robert D. Tate will preside
Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton.

You have my deepest sympathy on your losss.
I met John in 1987 when I became employed at the Hancock County Sheltered Workshop. Initially I had difficulty understanding what John was saying but after I was around him for awhile I was able to understand him. I remember that he was a good worker and got along well with others. The workshop could rely on John to show up for work and once he got there to do his job. He was pleasant and friendly to be around. My condolences to the family in the loss of their family member.
John was a friendy & loyal worker at the Sheltered Workshop. We are blessed to have known him! We will miss him! Our sincere sympathy to his family and friends.
