John J. Billie 65, life long residence of Weirton died on June 5, 2004. He was born on May 9, 1939 In Weirton WV the youngest son of the late Andrew C. and Genevieve Smagaj Billie. In addition to his parents, one infant brother and his oldest brother Carl preceded him in death. Prior to retirement in 1992 John was employed by Weirton Steel Corp. with his latter position being General foreman in the coke Plant Dept. Prior to retirement he and his wife Betty purchased what is now Billie’s Hallmark Shop in July of 1991 which is still in business. John was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and former member of St. Paul’s Holy Name Society and past president of both. A former member of Madonna High School Board, Weirton Steel 25-year club, member and past president of the Weirton Steel Management Club, Weirton Chamber of Commerce, and the Knights of Columbus. Surviving is his wife of 39 years Betty Lou Baranowski Billie whom he married November 28, 1964. Also surviving are his three loving children. John and his wife Renee of Wheeling, WV, Diana and her husband John Simpson of Columbus, OH, Lisa and her husband Ronald Anderson of Weirton. Four grandchildren who loved their Pap Pap, Rachel and Nicole, children of John, and Ashley and Matthew, children of Lisa. Surviving also is his brother Andrew C. Billie of Sewell, NJ and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received on Monday, June 7, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St, Weirton, WV where a prayer service will be held at 3:30 PM in the funeral home. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be Tuesday, 10 AM at St Joseph the Worker Church. Interment will be at St Paul Cemetery, Weirton, WV.
