john pennacchio, sr.
John J. Pennacchio, Sr., 85, of Weirton, went to be with our Lord, on Thursday, June 30, 2022. Born on July 28, 1936, in Weirton, WV, John was the son of the late Antonio and Julia (Aprea) Pennacchio. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Sondra Lee (Ehler) Pennacchio and his loving daughter Lisa M. (Pennacchio) Ayers. After high school, John was a 4 year serviceman in the United States Navy. He then made a 35 year career with The Weirton Steel Corporation as a laborer and pipefitter, later finishing his service in production in the BOP. John was a devoted and loving husband and father, who always put his family first. He would help anyone with any problem including construction or mechanical needs and could never say no. Whatever broke, John could fix it. His reputation stood as a strong, hard worker. John enjoyed taking trips to Williamsburg and Sugarcreek with Sondra. He also liked playing golf, bocci, chess, and pool. One of his biggest passions was his garden, where he would start plants from seeds and watch them grow. John was never shy to tell you what was on his mind and what he thought about any subject manner, which is why his three children got their social skills from their mother. John was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church, St. Joseph Holy Name Society and was a 4th degree member of the Weirton Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club and The Greater Weirton Senior Center. He is survived by loving sons John J. Pennacchio, Jr. (Cristina), Weirton and Tony Pennacchio, Dallas, Texas, along with son-in-law Danny L. Ayers, Weirton. His loving grandchildren are John J. Pennacchio III (Lena), Monica M. (Pennacchio) Martich (George), Stephanie M. Pennacchio, and Alex L. Ayers. Per John’s request, a life memorial will be held privately with entombment at Saint Paul’s Cemetery Mausoleum.
