John N. Palumbo, 69, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Weirton, died Monday, October 20, 2003 at the OSU Medical Center East in Columbus. He was born May 8, 1934 in Weirton, WV, son of the late John Thomas and Elizabeth Moldas Palumbo. John was also preceded in death by his step-father, Nick Matijevich. John retired from Kobacker, Inc. where he worked as a diesel technician for 36 years. John served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Church of Our Lady Roman Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 11188, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus 3734. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Huber Palumbo of Columbus, whom he married July 2, 1955; sons, John T. Palumbo and his wife Diane of Millersport,OH and Robert A. Palumbo and his wife Mary of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Richard Matijevich and his wife Carolyn of Weirton; sisters, Roberta Grenard of Boston, MA, Nicole Biancamano of Glen Cove, NY and Mrs. Brian (Deborah) Sullivan of Midlothian, VA; 3 grandchildren, J.T., Sasha and Joshua; and two step-grandchildren, Brittany and Bianca. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary service will be held at 7:00PM. Funeral Mass with Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00AM Thursday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Weirton with Reverend Father Tony Thurston presiding. Interment will be at St. Paul Cemetery.
