Jon R. “Pie” Pietranton, 36 of Weirton, WV died Thursday October 18, 2001 at his home,with his family, after a lengthy illness with diabetes. Jon was born on February 17, 1965 in Weirton, WV, the son of Anthony J. Pietranton, Jr. and the late Mary Frances (Perky) Cimino Varner. Pie graduated from Weirton Madonna High School in 1983. After attending college, he held several positions in the hospitality industry. He was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church in Weirton. Jon is survived by his father, Anthony J. Pietranton, Jr. and his stepmother, Carol; his three brothers, Joseph Pietranton and his wife Karlene of Sarasota, FL; Anthony F. Pietranton and his wife Kathy and Mark Pietranton and his wife Susie all of Weirton; his sister Monica Westfall and her husband, Gary of Fairview, PA; his step sisters Donna Burnetta Thomas and her husband, Stephen of Baltimore, MD and Danita Burnetta Himmelrick and her husband Martin of Weirton and his 7 nieces and 6 nephews. Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 PM Friday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. D. Kent Durig, presiding. Interment will be in Saint Paul Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Jon’s memory may be made to Weirton Madonna High School Park Avenue Weirton, WV 26062 or to the Valley Hospice 380 Summit Avenue Steubenville, OH 43952.   5. My grandfather passed away this past October and was looking through past obituaries. Seeing Jon’s name here was a lightning bolt. Makes you realize your own mortality and brings back memories of friends and family. Hope everything finds everyone well and memories are good ones.
