Joseph Capito, 84, of Weirton, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in the Weirton Medical Center. Born August 23, 1923 in Weirton, he was the son of the late Louis and Mary Capito. For 55 years, Joseph and his brother owned and operated Capito and Sons, a Weirton appliance store that was started by their father. He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Tri-State Marine Corp. Club, VFW 2716, Moose Lodge 688, BPOE 1801 and the Pleasant Valley Country Club. Joseph also served as Past President for the Weirton Jaycees. As a Marine, he served in the South Pacific during World War II. Joseph is survived by his wife Dorothy Utter Capito of Weirton, whom he married April 19, 1947; sons Jim Capito and his wife Becky of Weirton and William Capito and his wife Betsy of Lutz, FL; brother Herman Capito and his wife Vi of Weirton; grandchildren Lorri (Herb), Holly (Ken), Julie, Lindsay, Billy Joe, Kristen, Jill and Ryan; great-grandchildren Brandon, Morgan, Jerade, William, Austin and Cameron and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where funeral services will be celebrated 12 noon Saturday. Reverend Father Tony Thurston will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery where Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion Firing Squad.
