Joseph D. Carpini, 78, of Weirton, died Monday, August 5, 2002 at the Weirton Geriatric Center. He was born July 28, 1924 in Weirton, the son of the late Frank and Antoinetta Canzano Carpini. He was also preceded in death by his sister Mary Frankos. He was owner and operator of Carpini & Calvarese Masonry Company. Joseph retired from the Quality Control Department of Weirton Steel where he worked as a quality control analyst. He was a graduate of West Virginia University, a U. S. Army World War II veteran, a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, American Legion Post #10, Knights of Columbus #3734, and a lifetime member of the Pleasant Valley Country Club. Joseph is survived by his wife, Lois Falgiani Carpini; son, Joel (Debbie) Carpini; daughter, Jolene (Paul) Zuros; two sisters, Ida Calvarese and Lena Magnone, all of Weirton; a brother, Thomas D. Carpini of Hampton, VA; grandchildren, Cara Jo and Paul “PJ” Zuros and Joseph and Natalie Carpini, all of Weirton; and several nieces and nephews. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton.
