Joseph E. Martin, 64, of Colliers, WV, passed away Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Trinity Medical Center West. Born September 13, 1943 in Middlebourne, WV, he was the son of Virginia N. McInnis Martin of New Cumberland, WV and the late George Darwin Martin. Joseph was also preceded in death by his sister V. Marion Heupp and brother Jack Martin. Joseph retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a general foreman in the Environmental Department. Joseph had a passion for fishing; his favorite place was Cross Creek Lake. He was an avid woodworker, enjoyed making knives and small game hunting. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren. From 1961 1964, Joseph served in the US Army. Joseph is survived by his wife Lois Frederick Martin of Colliers, whom he married July 17, 1964; sons Todd Martin and his wife Michele of New Cumberland, WV, Shawn Martin and his wife Ann of Wintersville, OH and Kristopher Martin and his wife Ericka of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughters Kim Morris and her husband Bill of Fort Mojave, Arizona and Melissa Salzman and her husband Les of Monongahela, PA and nine grandchildren Erica and Andy Morris, Joshua, Nathan, Kennedy and Gabriel Martin, C.J. and Corey Jacobs and Erick Velez. Friends will be received Sunday 6-8 PM and Monday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where funeral services will be celebrated 11AM Tuesday. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with military services will be conducted by the American Legion Firing Squad. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hancock County Unit, P. O. Box 2166, Weirton, WV 26062.   1. I am very sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. I always enjoyed working with him at Weirton Steel. Every time I saw him he always said something to make me laugh. I’m sure he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

  3. It has been many years since I have had a contact with your family but I never forgot you. I enjoyed so very much your friendship. I am and was very deeply saddened to hear of Joe’s passing. May God bless you Lois and your family. I have gone through losing a spouse. Although, it is not easy with God’s help you will be ok. Just keep looking up and remember He is looking down.   4. We’ve known Joe for many years We went to school with his children, but it wasnt until recent years when We moved in across the street We really got to know him. We became pretty good friends with Joe and Lois or as We refer to them as “J-Lois”, but i guess thats fitting because together as one forever . We are glad our paths crossed in this Journey. He will be missed greatly .
