Joseph R. Grieco of Weirton passed away Friday unexpectedly at his home while sitting in his recliner. He was two days shy of turning 82. Joseph was born on May 29, 1940, in Colliers, WV to Joseph Frank and Theresa Patrella Grieco. He graduated from Follansbee High School in 1958 and served two years in the United States Navy. Joseph married Rose Enich and they were blessed with two sons Joey in 1963 and Mark in 1965. Joe provided for his family by working as a pipefitter in the Sheet Mill of Weirton Steel. He retired at the age of 57 at 37 years of service. After retiring from Weirton Steel, Joe and his best friend for life Vance Northcraft formed the “Modern Memories”, where they entertained throughout the Ohio Valley their musical and DJ talents. In his free time, Joe loved to camp and fish at Seneca Lake on his son’s boat. He also enjoyed listening to music especially classic rock He loved classic cars and was a diehard Dallas Cowboy and West Virginia University Fan. His name was placed in the Dallas Cowboy Walk of Fame in Arlington, TX. Closer to home he loved to cook and enjoyed feeding his pet cardinals and squirrels off of his back porch. He was a member of the Elks 1801, Moose 688, and the American Legion. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his former wife, Rose Enich Grieco. He will be remembered with love by his two sons, Joseph F. Grieco, (Marlene) and Mark Grieco; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Orchulli, Maria, Alexis and Bryce Grieco; great grandchildren, Sofia and Olivia Orchulli; his girlfriend of over twenty years, Diane Bell; his two brothers, Ed Lionetti and Frank “Dinky” Grieco, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 4-8 PM on Friday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV Interment will be held privately next to his mother at Oak Grove Cemetery.
