Joseph Stanley Bengier, 87 of Weirton, WV died Sunday, August 30, 2015 in Weirton Medical Center. Born October 27, 1927, in Miller Station, OH, he was a son of the late Peter and Constance (Kujawa) Bengier. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Wanda Magnone Bengier, brothers Stanley and Casimir Bengier; and sisters Stella Stunda, Mary Anderson, Regina Bengier, Valeria Bicanovsky, Catherine Bengier and Anna Thomas. Joe retired as a roller from Weirton Steel. He served in the Navy on the USS Conway and was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church, Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus 3734. When Joe wasn't spending time with his family, he enjoyed gardening, bocce and playing golf. The Bengier family held a reunion last weekend at Oglebay Park where Joe enjoyed visiting with many of his relatives at a celebration of life. Joe commented it was one of the best days of his life. He is survived by his wife Dolores (Kansa) Bengier; sons, John (Pamela) Bengier of Apopka, FL, Joseph (Andrea) Bengier of Dumfries, VA, Jim (Jane) Bengier of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Jeffery (Vickie) Bengier of Warsaw, NY; stepson Bruce Hoover (Ellen) of Lemon Grove, CA; stepdaughter Denise (T.J) Jedinak of Columbus, OH; brother Frank "Bunny" Bengier ; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law Edward Kansa and Matt Magnone, Sr.; as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. St. Joseph Holy Name Society will recite the rosary at 5:30 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Thursday at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church. Father Alfred Obiudu will officiate. Entombment will follow at St. Paul Mausoleum Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 224 California Avenue, Weirton, WV 26062.
