joseph dziatkowicz
Joseph Walter Dziatkowicz, 59, of Weirton died suddenly at his home, on Monday March 16th, 2009. Joseph was born on July 5th, 1949, in the Gill Hospital at Steubenville, OH, a son of Margaret Lazur Dziatkowicz, of Weirton, W.Va, and the late Joseph Stanley Dziatkowicz. Shortly after returning from Vietnam, Joe's father died suddenly, and Joe, with his labor of love, helped his mother care for his five brothers and three sisters. This love carried on to his 14 nieces and nephews, and his two great nephews. These children were Joe's life. He enjoyed spending time with them, especially organizing the annual Easter Egg hunt in the famliy's backyard. Joe's other passion was gardening and when he was not in the garden, he loved to hunt and fish and care for his dog, Blackie. Joe was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Church, Weirton Steel 25 Year Club and the Paris Sportsman's Club. Joe was a big hearted person, who will be sadly missed by his friends and family. He is survived by his mother, Margaret, with whom he resided; his five brothers, Michael (Nikki) Dziatkowicz, Richard Dziatkowicz, George (Cheryl) Dziatkowicz, Mark (Cathy) Dziatkowicz, Bill (Prudy) Dziatkowicz; his three sisters, Peggy (Bob) Thomaselli, Maureen (Doug) Kerr, and Celeste Dziatkowicz; his nieces and nephews, Josh(Kathryn), Heather, Brent, Doug, Michael, Melorie, Samantha, Dylanna, Alexis, William, Makenna, Victoria, Aidan, and Brandy; his great nephews Ryder and Ryan. 10. Dear Margie, We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Joey. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you, Celeste, Michael, Ricky, George, Mark, Billy, Maureen, Peggy and the entire Dziatkowicz family. Joey was an outstanding man who was passionate about his family and work. He didn’t care if it days or nights. He just was a tireless working machine. He was the kind, caring and very generous man that we all knew. I know Joey enjoyed spending the holidays with family and was the heart and soul of all the family reunions and gatherings. My late father Joseph P Herman always spoke highly of Joey and looked at him as a son figure. I can remember Joey at my dads funeral crying and telling me how much he loved that man {Joe Paul} . Our families have been there for one another making one great family. Joey new I liked pumpernickel bread and for years always sent a fresh loaf home with dad to give to me. That was just how Joey was. Joey never saw ground that he couldn’t plant a garden. {smile} He and my father had a lot of the same interests. They were both passionate about their religion, country, gardens, and families; which included prize winning tomatoes, peppers and beets!!! {smile} They both enjoyed their Steelers, Pirates and Weir High. I remember they enjoyed a nice wintry Saturday afternoon hunting for rabbits in twenty degree weather, almost always coming home with their fill. It’s not hard to see how these two Joe’s got along so well. In closing, I will just say that we Celebrate Joey’s life today and will continue to celebrate living the way he would want us to. Until we meet again in heaven with Love, Timothy Herman & Family.
