Josephine C. Mankowski, 87, of Weirton, died Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at the D & D Quality Care. She was born on September 5, 1916 in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of the late Walter and Balwania Napierkowski Masiak. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John S. Mankowski on March 22, 1999; two brothers and four sisters. Josephine was a homemaker, a member of the Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Christian Mothers and Rosary Society. She is survived by her two daughters, Sandy Mankowski-Myers and her husband George of Weirton and Martina Ledzinski and her husband Jerry of Carmel, CA; 6 grandchildren, Dr. Tina Cutone, Ed Cutone, Tammy Aftanas, Terri Neeley, Jerry M. Ledzinski, and Justin Ledzinski; and 5 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, October 3 from 9 AM until time of memorial mass at 10:00 AM at the Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Weirton. Entombment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee. Josephine’s family has established a nursing school scholarship fund in her name. Memorial contributions can be sent to WVNCC Foundation, Inc., 1704 Market Street, Wheeling, WV 26003.   3. DEAR FAMILY I WAS SO SADDENED TO HEAR OF AUNT JO’S DEATH. I AM SO GLAD THAT I GOT TO SPEND TIME WITH HER AT GRANDMA’S FUNERAL LAST NOVEMBER. SHE LOOKED GREAT.
