Josephine Gribbin

Josephine Gribbin, 91, of Weirton, passed away Friday, March 25, 2005 at the Weirton Medical Center. Born September 14, 1913 in Carnegie, PA, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Wianiarski Ptaszek. Josephine was also preceded in death by her husband William Gribbin, Sr. in March 1972; son James Gribbin in November 1974 and sister Ann Mucha. During World War II, Josephine worked as a crane operator and later, when the store opened, was employed in the office of Stone & Thomas in Weirton, where she worked until her retirement in the 1980’s. She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and AARP. Josephine’s survivors include her son Bill Gribbin; brother Ed Ptaszek both of Weirton; sisters Victoria Owen of Greentree, PA and Blanche Kessler of Bridgeville, PA. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at a date to be announced.
