Julius W. (Julek) Zajac, 83, of Weirton, passed away Monday, January 30, 2006 at the Weirton Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones. Born July 8, 1922 in Weirton, he was the son of the late John and Veronica Drong Zajac. Julius was also preceded in death by his grandson Nicholas Zajac and brother Emil Zajac. With 38 years of service, he retired from National Steel where he worked as a buggy operator in the Strip Steel Department. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Civilian Conservation Corps. (C C Camp) and the WSX 25-Year Club. He served in the Army during World War II. Julius’s survivors include his wife Mary Sasyn Zajac of Weirton; sons John Zajac and his wife Cindy, Bobby Zajac and Valerie Hibbits all of Weirton and Jerry Zajac of Davison, MI; daughters Christine Robinson and her husband Jeff of Weirton and Reshel Murray and her husband Jeff of Morgantown, WV; sisters Stella Badal of Mt. Vernon, OH and Laura Schrockman of Weirton; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday 2-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10AM Thursday at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Reverend Father Alfred Obiudu presiding. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery where military services will be conducted by the American Legion Post 10 and Weirton Honor Guard.
